Dual Locking Spacer |
Our customer needed to optimise his PCB mounting keeping the physical robustness of a “snap-in” locking motion but reducing the amount of board area required. The current part price had to be maintained so a smaller fixing solution at higher cost was not an option. | With our experience in producing custom products we have developed a flexible modular tooling system. This approach allowed us to match a 50% smaller top fixing on the standard part at no additional cost to the customer. |

Cup Spacer |
A strategic partner had a special requirement for mounting a panel with a delicate finish. The panel had to be supported with the minimum number of fixings for the weight and was occasionally subject to environmental stresses. Clearance had to be maintained at 3.5mm. | Our NPD team suggested using a cup fixing instead of a normal wing. This would protect the mounting hole and add support. A blind hole fixing was used on the base with anti vibration fins, to help secure the panel even when subjected to vibration. |

Winged Plug |
During a process using concrete, a customer in the security industry needed to mask a hole and then re-open it once the concrete had set. Standard solutions would not remain in place or required a fixing tool to place and remove them. | The NPD team visited the customer and suggested increasing the retention by adding “spring-out” wings and modifying the cap to fit in place without a tool. A material was selected to allow the customer to punch through the cap rather than remove the part. |

Pipe Clip |
Richco has a close relationship with “white goods” manufacturers working to support their design engineers. A manufacturer asked us to develop a pipe clip that would be suitable for confined space with the added difficulty of high vibration levels and pull forces. |
After technical discussions between our NPD team and the customers engineers we proposed a side entry to the clip allowing easier location of the pipe in a confined space. An anti vibration cup was designed into the base increasing stability and performance. |

Flanged Sleeve |
A world recognised automotive company contacted our NPD team with a requirement for a hard wearing protective sleeve for a sensitive mounting. The part had to provide maximum protection but be simple to install during production. It had to comply with the rigorous performance standards of the Automotive Industry. | As we already have an automotive focused NPD team. The team where familiar with many of the requirements and procedures needed. Reducing the customer validation time. A simple initial concept was proposed with a precise internal molding providing maximum protection and simple insertion during manufacture. |

Slotted Spacer |
This Industrial customer was looking for a spacing solution, which would allow them to mount a PCB with a standard Snap-Fix but give a permanent fixing on the base. However he wanted the flexibility of using the spacer on several different projects all with different screw types and thread sizes. | With our (Quick Lock) tooling system we could adapt a standard spacer to provide a solution. The NPD team suggested a slot in the base to replace a hole. The slot would flex and allow different fixing sizes and thread types. The part material was selected to accept self tapping screws. |

Press Pin |
A Medical customer approached us to develop a fixing pin that could be used for several different products and hole depths. The customer did not want to use a fitting tool. An overall requirement for the industry is that the pin head could be cleaned and would protect the mounting hole from contamination. | The NPD team suggested using a modified a Standard Pin. Fins where added to the pin body, it could then placed into any type of hole without a fixing tool. The pin head was domed reducing the possibility of material being trapped and cleaning is made easier. |

Cable Fix |
A customer in the international rail industry was looking to replace an older metal cable tie retention system, with a modern more robust one. Using materials that would not degrade with UV exposure and be capable of withstanding a heavy loading or support a large cable bundle size. |
The NPD team developed a solution with a double mounting pin to handle the required loading and stop rotation. The tie fits under the mounting to providing better retention. The customer was so pleased with the results that he requested a range of different widths for different applications. |

Locating Spacer |
The enquiry for this part came from a customer in the Industrial Agriculture sector. The customer contacted our NPD team with a requirement for a standard spacer to be modified with two specific mountings as the product case was already pre-specified and could not be altered. | Via our "Quick Lock" tooling the NPD Team could develop exactly what the customer need based on an existing part but modified to have the exact fixings needed by the customer. Tooling cost was kept to a minimum and development time was reduced to a couple of weeks. |
